eThekwini Municipality is pleased to announce that the water pump at the aforesaid pump-station has been repaired and has commenced to operate. As a result, Shall-Cross Reservoir is full to its capacity and certain homes have already started to receive running water.
The Municipality is now building capacity at Chartsworth 04 Reservoir that supply most homes in Chartsworth and Welbedacht East. Teams on the grounds are working towards having all homes getting water by this evening.
The city would like to again sincerely apologise to all residents affected by this water shortage and is working unceasingly to clear all hurdles that may impede service delivery in future.
The Municipality also extend its gratitude to residents who while frustrated did not resort to any violent protests instead worked with the city until the malfunctioning of the pump station is dealt with.
Water tankers will remain on the ground until every home in all affected areas has running water.
Residents are urged to maintain social distancing as the city is hard and the country at large is hard at work to arrest the spread of COVID-19.
