eThekwini Municipality Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda is saddened by the untimely passing of uMlazi’s Ward 81 Councillor Nomusa Euna Mthembu who died this morning, 07 July 2020 after a long illness.

The late Mthembu, who was a Councillor for uMlazi F, C and B sections, was serving her second term as a Ward Councillor in eThekwini. On behalf of the municipality, Mayor Kaunda has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to family, friends and colleagues of Cllr Mthembu.

“Indeed, we have lost a true leader and a dedicated public servant who was at the forefront of service delivery. She was a Councillor that had a wealth of knowledge as she was serving her second term in this Municipality. Cllr Mthembu will be deeply missed. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.

The passing of Cllr Mthembu comes after the tragic death of uMlazi’s Ward 84 Cllr Bhekithemba Phungula who was laid to rest at the weekend on 04 July 2020. Cllr Phungula was fatally shot at his home on Tuesday, 23 June 2020.
